Hi Friends!  I hope it is a beautiful in your world today as it is in mine.  I love warm fall days.  Actually, it reminds me of home since all fall days in Waxahachie were pretty warm!  If you aren't familiar with Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto, give it a listen.  It is a wonderful piece, full of vibrancy and lyricism and power.  The world premiere recording is excellent.  Carol Wincenc commissioned the piece, and this recording features her along with the Houston Symphony conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.  Carol is coming to Bemidji to play the Rouse concerto with us on November 13.  So many of our concerts in Bemidji seem "once in a lifetime..."  but I think making every event special is part of what keeps people coming back.  The November concert with Carol will be one such event.  Carol is the flute professor at the Juilliard school.  She has been to Bemidji before, both as a member of the New York Woodwind Quintet, and as a member of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.  We are deeply honored to have a musician of her stature as our guest soloist.  And we are poised and ready to tackle a challenging new piece for us!  If you happen to be in the Bemidji area on November 13, please join us for an extraordinary afternoon of music.
